• Founder in 1982 of the Seattle International Association of Near Death Studies (SeattleIANDS.org), the world’s oldest support group for near-death experiencers
• In 1987 was named one of the forty most influential people under the age of 40 in the Pacific Northwest for her work in the field of death and dying
• Founder of the Department of Social Work at the world’s first bone marrow transplant center and pioneer in the field of critical care social work
* Taught terminal illness seminars in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington where she was also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work
