#161 Don't Stop Believin' With Krista Gorman

Krista Gorman is a Physician Assistant who, only three weeks after graduating as a PA, suffered cardiopulmonary arrest and died while in labor with her daughter.

Krista died as one person and woke up as another. For 10 years afterward, she tried to integrate the lessons she learned during her NDE but wasn’t successful until she experienced “life on life’s terms” to the point where she was unwilling to keep living that way. She understood life was hers for the creation, for the living, with self-love being the framework and Love for all the entire house. Krista actively began to do the things she needed to do in order to create her life the way she wanted it to be, which included creation of Twelve Principles for Daily Living (directly taken from her NDE) which provided the blueprint Krista needed to shape her thoughts, words and deeds each moment of each day, which has become her beautiful life.

Some of her story and the lessons she learned in the afterlife are shared in her self-published book, I Died And Learned How To Live, available on Amazon. Her NDE account is also featured in a book by Dr. Penny Sartori and the late Kelly Walsh titled The Transformative Effects of Near Death Experiences as well as the book Awakened By Death by Karen Swain and Cyrus Kirkpatrick. In 2017 she and her daughter were featured on the program Story Of God With Morgan Freeman on the National Geographic Channel episode titled Heaven And Hell.

Krista is an active member of the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS) and presented at their conferences from 2014-2017, several presentations were with her husband, Ainsley Threadgold, who also had a NDE. She is scheduled to speak in person at the 2022 IANDS conference in Salt Lake City. In addition, Krista speaks both formally and informally to various groups online and in person. Krista earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1993 and graduated from her Physician Assistant program in 2000. She has been a practicing PA-C ever since. She and Ainsley currently live in Hawaii. Her website is kristagorman.com. She has a YouTube page and Facebook page and can be found on Twitter at Krista_Gorman and Instagram @kgorman717209. She is also on Tiktok. Contact her directly at KGorman717@gmail.com.

In today’s episode, Krista beautifully details her experience of the afterlife and how what she saw changed her entire perspective on life.

Dr. Tony Cicoria is a part time board certified Orthopedic Surgeon in Maine, former Chief of Orthopedics at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, New York, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at SUNY Upstate Medical School in Syracuse. He received his BS in Biology from The Citadel and is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina (MD, PhD) and the University of Virginia Orthopedic Surgery Residency.

Dr. Cicoria had the unfortunate (or fortunate) luck of being struck by lightning in 1994 while speaking on a public telephone during a family reunion near Albany, NY. As a result of the lightning, Dr. Cicoria had a near death and out of body experience (NDE, OBE) and became a sudden savant for classical piano music and composition. Because of his unusual introduction to the world of music, Dr. Cicoria has been featured in various magazines and was featured in Dr. Oliver Sacks’ book “Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain”. Tony has given numerous recitals featuring music that he has composed, and has appeared in various television presentations around the world. He published his first works on a CD entitled “Notes From an Accidental Pianist” through CDBaby.com, and is currently working on a book about his experience called “On the Other Side of Life”

Dr. Tony Cicoria is back to share more of the wisdom he has gained since his NDE 28 years ago about consciousness and the meaning of life.

The music from the dream went through a lot of trouble to get here, the least you can do is write it.

#115 Three Near Death Experiences; One Abundant Life with Robert Kopecky

Robert Kopecky escaped a traumatic childhood growing up on the edge of San Diego, California, and went on to travel extensively, living a variety of lives as a ski bum, a factory welder, a monumental sculpture fabricator, an underground cartoonist; and finally, as an award-winning Manhattan illustrator, art director, and animation designer for clients like the New York Times, Cartoon Network, and PBS Kids (he’s recently re-designed Sesame Street for traditional animation).

His global journeys—from the remote South Pacific and the Mayan underworld to the media centers of Manhattan, were punctuated by three very different, dramatic "Near- Death Experiences" that eventually led him to years of study, meditation, and service, and the transpersonal realization of a Life beyond that inspired him to write about the spiritual lessons he’d learned the hard way.

When the spiritual essays he posted on his design blog became more popular than the designs, he was “called” to write his first book, How to Survive Life (and Death), 2014 Conari Press, which sent him into the world of “Near-Death” experience as a speaker, teacher, and contributing writer featured on Gaia.com, The Mindful Word, Inner self, BeliefNet, and more. His latest book: How to Get to Heaven (Without Really Dying), Wisdom From a Near Death Survivor, released in 2018 by Llewellyn Books, is a comprehensive guide to experiencing “heaven” in this life.

Robert has been a featured speaker for the 2016, 2018, and 2021 International Association for Near-Death Studies “Explore the Extraordinary” conferences, the Edgar Cayce Association for Research and Enlightenment, the Wisdom of the Near-Death Experience Symposium, the 2018 Afterlife Awareness Conference; and spoken for numerous IANDS Chapters around the country. He has appeared on PBS/WTTW Chicago, and guested on more than seventy radio and television interviews. His multiple Near-Death experiences give him a unique perspective on the phenomena of “the afterlife,” as well as on the life we currently live.

He regularly posts on his popular spiritual blog at RobertKopecky.blogspot.com, and links to his appearances can be found on his site: www.RobertKopecky.com. He and his wife, Sue Pike "The Animal Talker," make their home in Palm Springs, California. He’s presently at work on his third book, The Zen of Near Death.

In today’s beautiful episode with Robert, he shares with us the talk he have at the most recent IAND’s conference. Robert shares with us some of the great challenges he has faced in his life and the spiritual lessons he has learned along the way that has led him to living a full, abundant life.

#113 The Beauty of Working With Gifted and Twice Exceptional Children With Paula Wilkes

Paula has been an educator and coach for more than 40 years. Paula earned her B.A. at UCLA, and then her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. During the first 25 years of her career, she was a public school teacher in Eugene, Oregon. They both have 22-year old daughters that attend university in Connecticut. Steve and Kathie host successful workshops on The Place Between Here and There, accompanied by music and meditation. In their spare time, they enjoy hiking the many beautiful parks on Long Island, doing yoga, running, and cooking. They also enjoy sharing their spiritual enthusiasm by hosting kirtans, full moon ceremonies, sound healings, and guided meditations with friends. Steve and Kathie love to hear from their readers and are thrilled to answer all correspondence.

In todays episode I chat with Stephen and Katherine about Stephens NDE, how it taught him the language of the Universe and how these lessons can help us all navigate the human experience.

Copy of blog post IMG template.png

Rev. David Maginley is an interfaith spiritual counselor at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and award-winning author of Beyond Surviving: Cancer and Your Spiritual Journey. He is featured in the documentaries Here Right Now, and When You Die. David has also survived cancer four times, which resulted in a profound near-death experience and explorations in the connection of body, mind and spirit. He knows cancer from both sides of the hospital bed, and this life from both sides of the veil.

In today’s beautiful episode, David and I discuss his journey being diagnosed with cancer multiple times and the profound ways in which his near death experience impacted him and the greatest lessons in life he has learned along the way.
